A Florida sheriff’s deputy prophetically cautioned a group of men to move away from a busy highway during a traffic stop — just seconds before a driver plowed into his cop cruiser.
An Ocala Sheriff’s deputy pulled the car over at 11:30 p.m. on Highway 484 on November 26 and had the occupants exit the vehicle, cops said in a Thursday Facebook post.
Another deputy arrived to assist his partner and advised the group to move away from the darkened highway for their own safety.
“Come up on the grass, man, I don’t want you getting smushed in between the cars, in case someone hits us,” a deputy tells them on bodycam footage.
Moments later, the footage shows a car smashing into the police vehicle and careening directly into the space where the men had been standing, sending them leaping out of the way.

“What did I tell you boys?” the officer is heard telling them after the impact. “I just told them that this could happen. And then this happens.”
The department released the video footage Thursday to encourage drivers to stay at a safe remove from active roadways during stops, stalls or accidents.

“Fortunately, no one lost their life in this case, but far too many emergency workers lose their lives due to the failure of motorists to obey this law,” the post read.
The near-fatal accident comes a couple of months after an illegal migrant driving a front-end loader allegedly struck and killed a veteran Florida deputy.
Deputy Mike Hartwick was working a traffic detail at a construction site when the incident occured, the assailant was taken into cusotdy shortly afterward.
