It’s a menu that will live in infamy.

A Manassas, Virginia country club was forced to apologize Tuesday — for its 9/11-themed food menu that included such tone-deaf items as a chocolate silk “Pentagon Pie,” ‘2977 Chowder’ and a “First Responder Flatbread.”

The special seafood menu was promoted by The Clubhouse at Aquia Harbour. The number 2,977 marks the official tally of fatalities on Sept. 11, 2001.

Diners looking for a taste of everything could order the “Never Forget Sampler.”

The menu quickly faced backlash on social media, with one Twitter user calling the promotion “appalling.”

It has since been taken down.

Clubhouse manager George White issued a mea culpa on Facebook Tuesday night, saying, “I apologize for those I offended with the 9/11 seafood Sunday post.”

The offensive menu was quickly removed.

“My intention was to bring attention to that horrific day 21 years ago. To honor those who lost so much as well [as] those who gave everything that day,” he maintained. “We will have a new theme tomorrow.”

Aquia Harbour did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
