A Canadian babysitter was shot and injured by a tot she was watching over the weekend in what police called a “quite shocking” incident.
The pint-sized child somehow got their hands on a loaded gun in the apartment and then started running around with it on Saturday morning, Winnipeg police said.

When the babysitter tried to grab the gun from the kid, a bullet was accidentally fired, hitting the girl in the upper body, according to police. The teenager was watching the kid while an adult was sleeping.
A 20-year-old Winnipeg woman was arrested at the apartment and charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restrictive firearm, storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulation and carrying a concealed weapon, authorities said.
Const. Dani McKinnon, of the Winnipeg police, told CTV the gunshot “could have easily killed [the babysitter] instantly.”
“The child could have killed themselves. All three of them could have been hurt or killed,” McKinnon told the Canadian outlet.
“The magnitude of the incident is quite shocking.”
