Chilling surveillance video captured the moment two armed men stole a 10-month-old French bulldog after injuring the pooch’s owner in California.
Dog owner Amanda Hightower was attacked moments after she left her home on Teresita Court in Hollister on Thursday morning and then returned for a forgotten item, according to KSBW.
“I surprised them when I had come in the door, so they attacked me, and they kept telling me to stay on the ground, ‘Don’t move!’ you know, cussing at me, and I was trying to fight back,” she told the news outlet.
“I was trying to grab [their] hoodies, and [one of them] got upset, so he hit me with the gun in the face,” Hightower recalled. “I said, ‘Please don’t take my dog, please don’t take my dog!’ ”
Her pregnant bulldog, named Milani, has a rare merle coat and is reportedly worth about $7,000.
Hightower believes the dognappers cased her home after finding out Milani is pregnant.
“It was posted on my Instagram breeding page, and it was a public page for people to see in case they were interested in any of the puppies, so anybody could have seen it,” she told KSBW of the posting.
Such bulldogs, which are worth between $1,500 and $5,000, have been a favorite target for thieves, most famously when Lady Gaga’s dog walker was shot and her two Frenchies stolen last year.
The two suspects who made off with Milani were driving a silver Chevy Malibu with paper dealer plates from Gold Star Buick GMC in Salinas — but police said they could have been fakes or stolen.
