The A-list couple finally made it official and tied the knot in a surprise, Las Vegas wedding, on Saturday, July 16, a source confirmed to In Touch.
The “On My Way” singer first revealed in April 2022 via her “On the JLo” newsletter that she and the Argo actor were engaged.
“So, I have a really exciting and special story to share,” Jennifer said in a sneak peek clip that she posted via Twitter and Instagram that day. In the video, she showed off her brand-new engagement ring, which GIA certified gemologist and The Clear Cut founder, Olivia Landau, described as a “5-6 carat fancy green cushion cut diamond set with white diamond side stones.”
A month prior, the “Jenny From the Block” artist opened up about her and Ben’s romance in an appearance on Today to promote her rom-com Marry Me.
“When Ben and I were younger and we were together, we were just out there with our relationship,” the Hustlers actress recalled on February 3. “We’re just at a different place in our life. We’re going to try to keep as much as we can sharing our happiness, but at the same time keeping it very sacred and close to our own hearts.”
When the two broke up in 2004, Ben cited overwhelming media attention as one of the causes. However, J. Lo further insisted on how different their relationship is now. “We have a different sense of responsibility,” she added in the interview.
The pair started off 2022 on a happy note as they were spotted on multiple occasions together. On February 2, the Marry Me actress managed the New York City chilly weather by donning a fur coat while walking alongside the Way Back actor, who sported a plain, blue coat in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
Ben and Jennifer reunited after 17 years of being apart once she broke off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez in April 2021. The duo initially dated in 2002 and quickly got engaged, only to call it quits by 2004. However, it’s clear things were different between them this time around, as an insider predicted Ben’s proposal in late January 2022, telling In Touch that an engagement was “imminent.”
“There’s no question that Jen and Ben will be engaged,” the source said on January 24. “He’s told pretty much everyone that he lost Jen once before, and he’s not going to let that happen again. It’s meant to be, and if you see them together, there’s no doubt about it.”
The Good Will Hunting screenwriter even had a date in mind to pop the question. The insider continued, “He wanted to propose on her birthday in July, but some say Ben feels that’s too far away. He’ll probably do it in early spring when they have plans to go away.”
“It took a while for Jen and Ben to find each other again,” the source added. “There were many naysayers. They thought there was no way this second chance at love would work, but it has. A proposal is imminent. Followed by a fabulous wedding, probably this summer. This is the real deal.”
Last year, the couple were seen on several 2021 winter holiday outings with their respective children. Ben was spotted taking J. Lo’s kids — Max and Emme Muñiz — shopping with his children Violet and Seraphina Affleck on one of many instances. Jennifer shares her twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony, whereas Ben shares his daughters and son Samuel Affleck with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
As for their children’s approval, “Their kids are all on board,” the insider said, before adding “even Jen Garner thinks it’s a good idea.”
