Are 90 Day Fiancé stars Paola Mayfield (née Vesga Salcedo) and Russ Mayfield still together? The couple is one of the OG stars of the hit TLC show and they’ve shared their ups and downs throughout their marriage via various seasons and spinoffs of the reality TV franchise. Keep scrolling below for an update on their relationship status.
Russ and Paola made their debut on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé. They documented the 90 days leading up to their October 7, 2013, wedding on the show, and they went on to star in season 1-4 of the spinoff, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? They documented the January 9, 2019, birth of their first child, son Axel, on season 4. While the couple had not appeared in a full season since 2019, they’ve made appearances in other TLC spinoffs like 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk and discovery+ spinoffs like Love Games and 90 Day: Foody Call. Although they documented tension and fights over the years, they always seemed to be committed to their marriage.
Unfortunately, Russ and Pao sparked split rumors in August 2021 when she shared a series of cryptic messages on social media.
“Part of the reason why relationships end is that we get caught up in other things, forget to appreciate one another, and sadly, marriage isn’t a priority anymore,” Paola tweeted that month, later tweeting another message, reading, “People asked me why I don’t take pictures with my husband, and my answer is … I just don’t like to pretend [shrugging emoji] #youareguessingright.”
That same month, In Touch exclusively confirmed Russ and Pao were “on a break” and seeking marriage counseling to overcome their marital issues.
“During this pandemic, it hit everyone very hard, especially couples who have had to stay indoors with each other 24/7,” Dominique Enchinton, Paola’s manager and owner of Dominion Talent House, exclusively told In Touch at the time. Dominique also brought up how their RV lifestyle made things harder since it didn’t give the couple much space from each other.
“Russ has lost his job during the pandemic, so Paola was the sole breadwinner for the past year,” Dominique added. “With all of that, it’s definitely taken a toll on both of them.” She said that although the reality star parents were at odds, Paola and Russ were “not getting a divorce yet,” adding, “They are still together. They are just taking a break and going to therapy to work through the issues.”
However, it seems the break was for the best and therapy helped. In October 2021, the couple celebrated their eight-year wedding anniversary and Paola shared an update on their relationship status with fans.
“8 years together,” the reality star-turned-wrestler captioned a video showing off a beautiful bouquet of red roses sent by her husband on October 7, 2021. “We are working on it like we always do. #anniversary.”
Since then, Russ and Pao celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving as a family of three with their son, Axel. For Christmas, they posed for sweet family photos together while celebrating the holiday.
In December 2021, Paola took to Instagram to share a video seemingly recorded at their Christmas party, which captured a sweet and loving moment between the husband and wife. Pao wore a sexy silk red dress and she danced for the camera while looking at her hubby and reaching her arm out to him so he could join her. Russ walked up to his wife and they wrapped their arms around each other before going in for a kiss.
Pao shared another update on their marriage with fans in the caption, writing, “We believe in second chances #strongertogether.”
When talking about the decision to try therapy, Paola detailed their counseling session could go two ways. “One, maybe we’re gonna try to fix it,” the Colombian native told her husband during a scene. “Or either way, they’re gonna try to make you realize that maybe we are not supposed to be together anymore.”
While speaking with the marriage counselor, Paola revealed she had already asked Russ for the divorce “a couple of times.”
“[I] got a really bad reaction from him and I kind of understand ‘cause he wants to fight for the marriage,” the wrestler told the therapist. “But I’m getting to a breaking point that I’m just exhausted and like, I don’t wanna keep fighting for this.”
Explaining that the point of their RV lifestyle was for them to travel with their son, Paola detailed that Russ applied for a job behind her back. She added, “The idea was to actually like, find himself because I was the one providing. So I said, ‘OK, while I work, you just focus on something so you can be your own boss.’”
“And I didn’t take action,” Russ cut in. “Well, I took the shortcut by going back to the job I have … to the comfort zone.”
Also adding that this wasn’t the RV life she “signed up for”, she added, “What I do, I can be anywhere. I can travel anywhere. But now, it’s just like, he works from home, and we’re always just there. We are in this position too much.”
After the session, the pair came up with a game plan to get their marriage on track, which included Russ incorporating a workspace outside their home.
It seems the pair have worked things out so far as the duo is still making their marriage work!
