Republican governors who are shipping migrants to liberal cities are committing “crimes against humanity,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fumed.

“It’s appalling that far-right politicians seem to have decided that fall before an election is their regularly scheduled time to commit crimes against humanity on refugees,” she said in a tweet Friday evening. “Don’t normalize this. Lying to & trafficking people for TV and clicks isn’t politics as usual. It’s abuse.”

For months, Texas has been busing migrants to so-called “sanctuary cities” like New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago in what they say is an effort pressure the Biden administration for more action to secure the US border. At least 11,000 new migrants have landed in the Big Apple since May.

The situation has only escalated since then, as other states like Arizona and Florida have also begun to send migrants north, including 50 migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard. The move caused mass chaos on the island. The National Guard ultimately called out 125 troops to manage the situation and the migrants were bused off the Vineyard.

Vineyard residents claimed they did not have services or space for the migrants, though dozens of available properties were available on Airbnb. Others suggested former President Obama could open his sprawling estate to the migrants.

“What a lot of Republican politicians fail to understand is that not everyone shares their zero-sum, scarcity mindset,” AOC said earlier Friday. “Many of us understand that immigrants and refugees are a blessing. They have so much to offer our country, & much of our growth as a nation is because of them.”
