June 2022

Americans are divided along party lines over whether former President Donald Trump should be criminally charged for his role in last year’s Capitol riot, a poll released Thursday shows.

A whopping 86% of Democrats say the 45th president should face charges, while just 4% say he should not and 10% say they don’t know enough to have an opinion, the Associated Press/NORC survey found.

Among Republicans, by contrast, 68% think Trump should not be charged, just 10% say he should, and 21% say they don’t know enough to have an opinion.

Independent voters are more evenly split on the question, with 36% backing criminal charges for Trump, 25% opposing and 38% saying they don’t know.

Overall, 48% of Americans say Trump should face criminal liability, while 31% believe he should not and 20% say they don’t know.

An Associated Press/NORC survey found that 86% of Democrats believe former President Donald Trump should face charges for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Donald Trump
Only 10% of Republicans say that the 45th president should be criminally charged for his role in last year’s Capitol riot.

The poll was conducted after the House select committee held five hearings this month examining the events leading up to and occurring on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters disrupted Congress’ certification of the Electoral College vote for President Biden.

But the survey was taken before the committee’s hurriedly scheduled Tuesday hearing in which Cassidy Hutchinson, a top aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified under oath.

One of Hutchinson’s most shocking claims was that the former president grabbed the steering wheel of his SUV and shouted “I’m the f—ing president” on Jan. 6 after Secret Service agents told him he could not join his supporters at the Capitol.

The AP-NORC poll found that Democrats are paying more attention to the hearings than Republicans by a large margin.

Three-quarters (75%) of Democrats say they have been keeping track of the House committee’s hearings, as opposed to 42% of Republicans and independents.

Jan. 6 Capitol riot
The Democratic Party comprises the majority audience for the House select committee’s Jan. 6 Capitol riot hearings.

Overall, 56% of Americans say they have followed news about the hearings, compared to 43% who say they haven’t.

However, more than half of Americans (57%) say “no” when asked if they have watched or listened to the hearings, a number that includes 72% of Republicans, 66% of independents and just 41% of Democrats.

Democrats make up the primary audience for the hearings, with 58% of party members in the survey saying they had watched or listened to the live coverage, compared to 32% of independents and 27% of Republicans.

When asked to assign levels of blame for the riot, 61% say the rioters bear “a great deal” of responsibility. Trump is next to receive a “great deal” of blame with 49%, followed by Republicans in Congress (26%) and Democrats in Congress (12%)

Only 12% of Republicans say Trump should get “a great deal” of blame, compared to 85% of Democrats and 37% of independents.

Kathlyn Keller, a retired investment banker from San Francisco, is among those who believe Trump should not face any charges for Jan. 6.

Keller, 83, told the Associated Press that those who carried weapons to the Capitol grounds, forced their way into the building or caused damage inside should be charged.

Trump “absolutely shouldn’t be charged with anything,” she told the AP.

But for Ella Metze, an 86-year-old Democrat in South Carolina, Trump’s culpability was clear from the moment he rallied his supporters with a speech on the Ellipse near the White House urging them to “fight like hell.”

“It was meant to provoke violence because he kept encouraging them,” she told the AP. “As it happened, I watched it all and I just thought why doesn’t somebody stop this? Why doesn’t he stop this?”

The poll surveyed 1,053 Americans between June 23 and 27.

It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

No prenup here! Little People, Big World star Matt Roloff clapped back at one fan who suggested he make Caryn Chandler sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage and hinted that his girlfriend makes more money than he does.

“Hope you’re getting a [prenup], Matt,” a fan wrote in the comments section of Matt’s Instagram post on Sunday, June 26.

“Since she has a net worth 3x my worth,” the Roloff Farms patriarch, 60, responded. “I hope she lets me sneak by.”

“Caryn’s net wealth will surprise you,” he added. “I need her to try [to] keep up.”

The shocking clapback comes after Matt shared a photo of himself and Caryn, 54, while reuniting with their longtime friends.

“After 2 weeks in Arizona visiting my folks, Caryn’s folks and having kids and grands down to enjoy the warmth,” the TLC star wrote alongside a group photo of the two couples which he shared via Instagram on Friday, June 24. “We come back to the farm to have these dear friends of 30+ years come out from Texas to hang with us for a few days. As Brian would say in his Texas accent, ‘It’s been a mighty fine time y’all!!’”

The same troll that questioned Caryn’s intent, also questioned Matt’s friendship, writing, “So when you say dear friends of 30+ years, you mean friends of you and Amy?” Matt seemingly chose to ignore that part of the comment.

Matt’s annoyance was expressed the same day he shared another photo from his friends’ visit but this time ex-wife Amy Roloff with her husband Chris Marek joined the group

“Cheer this photo on!!! That’s the tall and the short of it! Period,” the father of four wrote. “Negative people please go away gracefully … you don’t possess adequate discernment to speak your inadequate mumble jumbo,” he added, seemingly throwing shade at his Instagram trolls.

“But we will respond to the fools for fun if you are over 55 and mature and to qualify,” Matt joked.

In addition to taking down haters in the comments section of his social media, Matt has been hard at work building his and Caryn’s new home on Roloff Farms. The new project began shortly after Matt announced he placed a portion of the family’s beloved Oregon property for sale in May.

The California native shared a video of his excavator being worked on with what appeared to be a blowtorch on Monday, June 27, saying, “Flipping the cutting edge on Track hoe bucket.”

“Now that the rains are gone I can start digging out for the new house,” he added. The following day, Matt shared a video at work captioned, “Breaking ground.”

A Florida judge on Thursday refused to toss a lawsuit brought by Gabby Petito’s family accusing Brian Laundrie’s parents of knowing that their son had killed the Long Island woman.

Petito’s parents filed suit over statements the Laundries’ lawyer Steve Bertolino put out — five days before the 22-year-old’s strangled body was recovered in Wyoming — that said, “It is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is reunited with her family.”

Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt claim, however, that statement was false, accusing Christopher and Roberta Laundrie of knowing at the time that Brian had killed Gabby.

Judge Hunter W. Carroll sided with the Petitos in denying the Laundries’ motion to dismiss the suit.

“As alleged by the Plaintiffs, the Laundries made their statement knowing that Gabby was dead, knowing the location of her body, and knowing that her parents were frantically looking for her,” Carroll wrote in a ruling obtained by The Post. “If this is true, then the Laundries’ statement was particularly callous and cruel, and it is sufficiently outrageous to state claims for intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Brian Laundrie, Gabby Petito
Brian Laundrie reportedly admitted to killing Gabby Petito in a journal entry.

Gabby, 22, vanished on a cross-country trip with Brian, her boyfriend, sparking a nationwide search. After being named as the sole suspect in her disappearance, he, too, went missing, only to commit suicide. His skeletal remains were found in the Carlton Reserve in Florida on Oct. 20.

Laundrie admitted to killing Gabby in a notebook left in a Florida swamp where he killed himself. He insisted it was an act of “mercy,” Fox News reported last week.

“I ended her life,” Laundrie reportedly wrote in the note recovered by the FBI in October. “I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was in shock.”

Laundrie claimed he killed Petito, whom he was reportedly engaged to marry, after she fell in the Wyoming wilderness.

Nichole Schmidt, mother of Gabby Petito, whose death on a cross-country trip has sparked a manhunt for her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, speaks alongside, from left, Tara Petito, stepmother, Jim Schmidt, stepfather, and Joseph Petito, father, during a news conference, Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021

The Laundries have denied having any advance knowledge of Petito’s demise.

Petito’s father, Joseph, acknowledged the legal victory in a tweet Thursday while claiming the “truth” would be revealed.

Christopher and Roberta Laundrie have until July 15 to respond to the allegations by Petito’s parents of intentional infliction of emotional distress, Carroll ruled.

MTV’s Teen Mom franchise is no doubt one of the most popular reality shows on TV, but Teen Mom 3 was a short-lived addition, only having lasted for three months before coming to an end.

Briana DeJesus, Alexandria Sekella, Mackenzie McKee and Katie Yeager’s reality TV careers began when their birth stories aired during the fourth season of 16 and Pregnant. The young moms’ lives played out in front of the cameras as they navigated the difficult terrain of teenage motherhood when the franchise’s third installment premiered in November 2013. Though the series was canceled after just one season, some of the girls found their way back in front of the cameras.

In March 2017, MTV announced that Briana would be joining the cast of Teen Mom 2

“I’ve met Kail [Lowry] and Javi [Marroquin], we’re pretty close. I spoke with a few more over the phone. They sound excited to have me so that’s good news,” she told E! News at the time. “I think we’re all mature here as it should be. But I am the newbie so I understand if some people are having mixed emotions. I’m hopeful we can all get along.”

It wasn’t long before things went downhill for the former costars. In September of that year, Bri and Kail’s ex-husband were spotted having dinner in New York City, sparking major romance rumors. The two confirmed their relationship and Javi even flew to Orlando with his sons to spend time with Briana and her daughters that October.

The feud between the Teen Mom 3 alum and the “Coffee Convos” podcast host continued before coming to a head when Briana aired Kailyn’s worst-kept secret on social media.

“She doesn’t want to film about breaking and entering into Chris [Lopez’s] momma house and beating him for cutting his child [Lux]’s hair,” Bri alleged via Instagram Story in June 2021, claiming Kail was trying to “cover up the real her or things that are going on in her real life.”

Kail went on to sue Briana for defamation, though, in April 2022, a judge ruled in Bri’s favor.

Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Thursday that the Senate should “reform or do away with” the legislative filibuster after the Supreme Court curbed the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate emissions from power plants without congressional approval.

“Catastrophic. A filibuster carveout is not enough,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wrote in a tweet responding to the high court ruling in West Virginia v. EPA.

“We need to reform or do away with the whole thing, for the sake of the planet,” the “Squad” member added.

AOC’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for clarification about whether she was referring to the filibuster or the Supreme Court itself.

However, in subsequent tweets, the Bronx and Queens lawmaker asked voters to call their senators and implore them to overhaul the procedure.

“The issue w/ ‘elect 2 Dems for Roe’ is it’s not clear that’s the #. We need to count votes,” she wrote. “Filibuster needs 51, but it’s not just Manchin & Sinema holding out. What to do? CALL YOUR DEM SENATOR + ask them to CLEARLY support an abolished or talking filibuster.”

The progressive Democrat has repeatedly pushed for abolishing the filibuster as her party has struggled to pass sweeping legislation through the Senate due to the 60-vote legislative threshold.

Those efforts have largely been thwarted by moderate Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona.

The two have consistently voiced opposition to doing away with the filibuster and as recently as Thursday, a Manchin spokesperson told The Post that the senator’s position “has not changed.”

Ocasio-Cortez's comments come after the Supreme Court ruled the Environmental Protection Agency can't regulate emissions from power plants without congressional approval.

Earlier Thursday, President Biden indicated he would support eliminating the procedure in order to codify federal abortion protections in the aftermath of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

“Now we’re talking! Time for people to see a real, forceful push for it. Use the bully pulpit. We need more,” Ocasio-Cortez said, praising the president’s comments.

The New York Democrat’s posts came just minutes after the Supreme Court rolled back the EPA’s regulatory authority in a 6-3 decision.

Ocasio-Cortez urged her followers on Twitter to call Democratic Senators and ask them to "support an abolished or talking filibuster."

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority that “it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt on its own such a regulatory scheme.”

“A decision of such magnitude and consequence rests with Congress itself, or an agency acting pursuant to a clear delegation from that representative body,” he added.

Get to know Caryn! Little People, Big World star Caryn Chandler is best known for appearing on the TLC show alongside boyfriend Matt Roloff and his family. What Is Caryn Chandler’s Net Worth?

Viewers may be shocked to learn that Caryn has a net worth of $4.5 million, according to Distractify.

What Is Caryn Chandler’s Job?

Even before she began dating Matt, Caryn, 53, had known the reality star family for years and worked as a manager at Roloff Farms. She began dating Matt, 60, in 2017, just months after his divorce from ex Amy Roloff was finalized in 2016.

The TV personality makes money for appearing on the popular show, though it’s not clear what her other sources of income are in order to maintain such an impressive net worth.

Caryn worked at Roloff Farms for 10 years before she quit in 2018. “Caryn is instrumental in running pumpkin season, she’s run it for 10 years. She tries to get [Amy] as involved as she can,” Matt said during a 2018 episode of Little People, Big World. “There was awkwardness a little bit, but we’re all kind of finding our way.”

Despite no longer working at the farm, the Arizona native still helps out when things get busy. In October 2021, Caryn shared a photo of her working on the farm and wearing an apron that read “Roloff Farms” via Instagram. In response to a fan that commented that it looked like she was working, Caryn wrote, “[LOL.] I can’t seem to get away. Now I help fold T-shirts & stock jam.”

Who Are Caryn Chandler’s Kids and Family?

Most of Caryn’s storylines on Little People, Big World center on her relationship with the Roloff patriarch. Even though she has a large platform, Caryn has remained relatively quiet about her kids from a previous relationship.

The Oregon resident is the mother to daughter Brittany and son Connor, though not much is known about them. Based on social media posts, Brittany graduated from Oklahoma State University. Meanwhile, Connor regularly visits Caryn and Matt when they travel to her home state of Arizona together.

Are Matt Roloff and Caryn Chandler Engaged?

Ever since Matt and Caryn went public with their relationship, fans have wondered if they will get engaged.

In November 2021, Caryn responded to engagement speculation when one social media user wrote to Matt, “When are you going to PROPOSE to your wonderful ladie [sic]?” She quickly shut down engagement rumors by cryptically replying, “Lol.”

Another fan asked if the couple had secretly “eloped” while on a romantic vacation to Cabo. “Haha. No, we didn’t,” Caryn responded in the comments section, adding laughing and heart eye emoji.

Shortly before Matt’s ex Amy, 57, married husband Chris Marek at Roloff Farms on August 28, 2021, Caryn and Matt spoke about their plans for the future during an episode of the TLC show. “Our grand plan right now is to stay committed, stay in love, go to Arizona and spend a tremendous amount of time together,” Caryn said during the August 10 episode. “When we’re here in Portland, we’ll live individually and see each other a lot.”

The Against Tall Odds author added that he’s happy with how their relationship currently is. “We’ve got the best of all worlds happening right now,” Matt chimed in.

Suspected human smugglers reportedly led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended with a fatal crash Thursday in the same Texas city where the infamous migrant death truck passed through an immigration checkpoint earlier in the week.

A vehicle believed to be carrying migrants was being chased by Border Patrol agents when it veered out of control and slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Encinal, TV station KHOU 11 reported.

Four people were killed and three were injured in the collision near the Love’s truck stop on Route 44, Encinal police said.

Encinal cops who responded to a Border Patrol request for assistance saw the “suspect vehicle” race off I-35 and smash into the tractor-trailer, which wasn’t moving, Police Chief Pablo Balboa III said in a prepared statement.

A photo posted online by KHOU appeared to show a mangled white Jeep amid the wreckage.

The speeding driver was among those killed and the injured were flown by helicopter to local hospitals, police said.

On Monday, a truck carrying 64 migrants in its sweltering trailer passed through the Border Patrol checkpoint in Encinal, with a surveillance camera allegedly catching Homero Zamorano, 45, grinning as he leaned out of the driver’s window.

That truck was later abandoned in a remote area of San Antonio, with authorities finding “stacks of bodies” inside and a total of 48 dead.

The death toll now stands at 53 of the 64 migrants who were packed into the trailer, and Zamorano — who was reportedly “very high on meth” when nabbed nearby — faces a federal human smuggling charge that could result in the death penalty.

Police have confirmed the driver of the car was killed in the crash.

It is not known whether the crash victims were migrants.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has repeatedly blamed the horrific incident on President Biden, saying Wednesday that the trailer wasn’t inspected in Encinal “because the Border Patrol does not have the resources to inspect all the trucks and as a result, the Border Patrol did not have the capability of saving those lives.”

Abbott also said he would “immediately” set up new, state-run checkpoints to inspect trucks for migrant-smuggling operations and deploy two “strike teams” to scour the highways for trucks carrying migrants and search out smugglers’ “stash houses.”

Modern Family alum Ariel Winter is one of the most fashionable actresses in young Hollywood. Whether she’s posing on the red carpet or stepping out on the street, the Los Angeles native is always dressed to impress — and that includes some memorable braless moments.

Not only is Ariel stylish and talented, but she’s also honest! Over the years, the former sitcom star has opened up about self-love and body image on a number of occasions, most notably after deciding to undergo breast reduction surgery.

“It really did happen overnight. I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop,” Ariel recalled during a 2015 interview with Glamour magazine. “I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts]. It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?’”

Ultimately, her decision to go under the knife was less about appearances, and more about quality of life. “It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain,” Ariel said. “I got it for myself. I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right.”

Prior to undergoing breast reduction surgery, Ariel, who got her start on Modern Family 2009, never felt comfortable in her own skin. “We live in a day and age where everything you do is ridiculed. The internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting,” she explained.

“On [red carpets], I just said to myself, ‘You have to do your best to look confident and stand up tall and make yourself look as good as you can in these photos,’ because everyone is going to see them. I definitely seemed confident; I’m an actress, that’s what we do,” Ariel admitted. “But on the inside, I wasn’t feeling so happy.”

Nowadays, Ariel appears happier and healthier than ever! Since Modern Family wrapped in 2020, the A-lister is focused on other projects, like Don’t Log Off and Crimelands, as well as spending time with her boyfriend, Luke Benward.

The Texas yoga teacher who allegedly gunned down a pro cyclist in a jealous love-triangle murder was arrested in Costa Rica — ending a 43-day international manhunt, officials said Thursday.

Fugitive Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 43, was nabbed Wednesday and will be deported to the US to face charges in the May 11 killing of Anna Moriah Wilson, a 25-year-old cyclist who was romantically linked to Armstrong’s boyfriend, the US Marshals Service said.

“The Marshals Service elevated the Kaitlin Armstrong investigation to major case status early in this investigation, which likely played a key role in her capture after a 43-day run,” US Marshal for the Western District of Texas Susan Pamerleau said in a statement.

“This is an example of combining the resources of local, state, federal and international authorities to apprehend a violent fugitive, bring an end to that run and hopefully a sense of closure to the victim’s family.”

Armstrong was nabbed at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas by US Marshals, working alongside Homeland Security Investigations, Department of State Diplomatic Security Service and local authorities, according to a news release.

The yoga instructor had used a fraudulent passport to hop a United Airlines flight out of Newark Liberty International Airport to San Jose, Costa Rica, on May 18 — a day after Austin cops issued a warrant for her arrest, the Marshals Service said.

Last week, marshals found Armstrong’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee and learned she had sold it for $12,200 to a CarMax dealership in Austin on May 13. Officials believe a day after the sale, she flew from Austin Bergstrom International Airport to Houston Hobby Airport, then took a connecting flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

Armstrong was dropped off at the Newark airport on May 18, but no outbound flights were listed under her name, marshals said.

Armstrong allegedly shot Wilson after finding out she was romantically involved withe her boyfriend Colin Strickland.

Her live-in boyfriend Colin Strickland, 34, had a fling with Wilson and had snuck out on the day of the shooting to meet her when she was in town from San Francisco and preparing for an upcoming race in Waco, officials said.

Strickland dropped off the cyclist at her friend’s house, where she was later found dead. A Jeep appearing to be Armstrong’s was seen on surveillance footage outside.

Police questioned Armstrong but released her without charges before she went on the lam, officials said.

Time flies! Fans of 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On have been able to keep up with the Duggar kids via social media, though some of the younger siblings have stayed out of the public eye in recent years. One of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s kids who has kept a low-profile is Johannah Duggar.

Johannah is the couple’s 16th child and sixth daughter.

In 2018, her older sister Jessa Duggar posted a lovely photo of several of her sisters to Instagram, and said she “can’t believe” how much they’ve grown…Johannah in particular! And she’s got a point. Remember when the youngest Duggar kids were literally born with cameras present for 19 Kids and Counting back in the day? In fact, Johanna’s birth was featured on the special Raising 16 Kids, which premiered in March 2006.

Jessa made the post to promote the Happy Heart album several of the younger Duggar girls participated in, but she made sure the social media update got a little personal, too. She wrote, “Can’t believe how grown up these girls are looking—especially Johannah!” And one glance at the photo below shows just how correct she is.

In addition to Johannah, the photo also featured JenniferJordyn and Josie, the youngest of the main Duggar children Jim Bob and Michelle share. Mackynzie Duggar — one of Josh and Anna Duggar‘s kids — was also included in the group, even though she’s not one of Jessa’s little sisters. The Duggar family often includes her in a lot of outings and activities with the youngest Duggar girls — who are technically her aunts — likely because they’re all so close in age.

Similar to most of the younger Duggar kids, Johannah does not have her own social media accounts and only appears online when her family members post photos. However, she has been included in some photos from family celebrations and in birthday tributes.

Happy birthday, Johannah! This girl is so fun and outgoing, and she loves making new friends. Her younger sisters absolutely adore her and think she hung the moon, and I couldn’t be more grateful to God for choosing me to be her Mom! Happy 15th birthday my sweet Johannah!” Michelle wrote via Instagram in October 2020. “The years keep going faster and I’m doing my best to slow them down and enjoy every moment!”
